Since they are machine cut, each crystal is the same; the height, width & slope are consistent. The precision cutting of Swarovski machinery allows each crystal to have its facet juncture “pointing up,” meaning each facet junctures all meet at precisely the same point; similar aspect of diamond faceting.
**The AB effect, named for aurora borealis (the northern lights), is a term for crystal stones that have a highly iridescent surface. Created by Swarovski in 1955 in collaboration with Christian Dior, the effect is achieved by vapor blasting the facets of the lower part of the crystals with an invisible, micro-thin metal sheet. AB crystals have a uniform surface luster. There are no swirling marks from the vacuum process that produces the AB finish, and generally there are no scratches.
